Thomas E. Bauer, 1924-2003, Versailles

Thomas Eugene Bauer, 79, of Versailles, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at his home.

He was born June 27, 1924, in Versailles, a son of Atwell and Alpha James Bauer. On Oct. 10, 1946, he was married to Mayme Johnson, who died June 29, 1995.

Mr. Bauer was a retired carpenter and farmer. He was a Navy veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda I. Blackledge, of Battle Creek, Mich.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Kay Walters on May 28, 1997; a brother, Creed Bauer; and a sister, Geraldine Ritchie.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.

Pallbearers will be Bo Walters, Dave Lawrence, Matt Jessalunas, Jay Collister, Benny Avis and Buck Bauer. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery, with military rites at graveside.

The family will receive friends from noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.
